Find charging station

Open the tab “Charge” in the SIXT app to see all charging stations.

Charging details

Select your preferred charging station and you’ll find further relevant details, such as exact location, price, plug type etc. Proceed to the location, the SIXT app can navigate you.

Plug in car & confirm charging

Verify the ID number of the charging point. Connect the vehicle to the selected charging point and click on “Start charging”.

End Charging session

Click on “End session” to terminate the charging process. Unplug the cable. The app will show you all details about your charging session and the approximate end price.

How do I set up an account with SIXT charge?

If you're already have a SIXT login with a Credit Card linked to it, you're all set to start using the charging feature right away! 

If you're new to Sixt, no worries. It's super easy to get started. Just download the Sixt App, follow a few simple steps to create your account, and add your credit card details along with your address. You'll be ready to go in no time!  

If I'm traveling to Europe from outside the region, would I be able to utilize SIXT charge?

Absolutely.

Why is the SIXT charge tab not visible in the SIXT app?

To enable the SIXT charge tab, open the Account tab > Settings > “Show all SIXT services”

What are the requirements for using SIXT Charge?

  • Latest version of the SIXT app
  • Completed registration in the app
  • Add valid address
  • Add valid credit card 

Do I need a physical card to activate the charging session?

No, a physical card is not needed. Sixt Charge operates fully digitally, meaning all charging sessions are activated and deactivated via the app.

There are so many types of charging stations - How do I choose a charging station that suits me best?

If your travel is within a short distance, and you expect to spend several hours at your destination, a public slow charger with a capacity ranging from 2 to 22kW should suffice. Nevertheless, if you're embarking on a lengthy journey, it's advisable to opt for a fast-charging station with a capacity of 50kW or higher.

In which countries can I use SIXT charge?

With our charging service, you can charge your vehicle at more than 550,000 charging stations in 29 countries. Please check the app to find out more on our network coverage.

How much does it cost to charge with SIXT charge?

The cost of charging with SIXT charge can vary based on the specific charging station you're using. Each charging network sets its own pricing rules that we must follow. Depending on the station, the prices are determined by factors such as:  

  • Duration of your charging session
  • Time of the day when you charge your vehicle
  • Amount of power you consume  

Please note that prices may change periodically. You can find the current rate by clicking on a charging station the map overview in Sixt app under the Sixt Charge tab. Keep in mind that this rate might differ from the one displayed at the charging station due to agreements between Sixt and the station's owner. We're committed to providing you with transparent and competitive pricing. 

What do I do if I have issues at the charging station?

If you run into any problems during your charging session, don't worry! Just look for the support number displayed on the charging station. Give them a call, and they'll be there to help you out.

How and when are my charges debited?

The charges for your charging sessions will be automatically debited from the credit card linked to your Sixt account. The charges are debited once a week.

Is there any subscription fee when using SIXT charge?

No, you only pay for what you use.

Who do I reach out to if I have a question regarding my invoice?

For any questions about your invoice, please reach out to Elli - the contact details are stated on the invoice.

I can’t end my charging session – What do I do?

  1. Internet Connection: Check that your smartphone is connected to the internet with a stable connection. 

  1. Proximity: Ensure your smartphone is close enough to the charging station for a proper connection. 

  1. Restart the App: Try restarting the SIXT app and attempt to end the charging session again. 

  1. Contact Operator: If the issue persists, contact the charging station operator for further assistance. You can find their contact number on the charging pole.

A charging session doesn't start – What do I do?

  1. Internet Connection: Ensure a stable internet connection. 

  1. Correct Charger Selection: Verify you've chosen the right charger compatible with your car. Check the connector, ensuring it's firmly connected to your vehicle. 

  1. Station Functionality: Confirm the charging station is operational by checking the display or contacting the charge point operator in case of any station errors. 

  1. Follow Charging Steps: Double-check if you've followed the correct steps to initiate the charging session via the SIXT app. 

  1. Payment Setup: Ensure a valid payment method is added, and you have sufficient credit to cover the charging session cost. 

  1. Restart: Restart the SIXT app and try initiating the charging session once more. 

  1. Contact the Operator: If the issue persists and relates to the charging point operator (CPO), directly reach out to them. Locate their contact details on the charging point. 

  1. Explore Alternatives: If resolution isn’t found with the CPO, consider locating another nearby charger through the SIXT app.

What are blocking fees and when do they apply?

Blocking fees are charged when you continue using the charger as a parking spot after your charging session is finished. They prevent chargers from being used as prolonged parking spaces, ensuring availability for other users.

These fees only apply if you exceed a specific time limit after charging. As long as you finish charging and vacate the charger promptly, no additional charges will be incurred.

Can I book a charger in advance?

No, this is not possible.

How can I see if a charger is available?

You can see the status of a charger in the SIXT app. If you only want to see available chargers, select “Available” in the filter option in the SIXT charge tab.

How do I find a suitable charger for the plug type of my vehicle?

Open the filter option in the SIXT charge tab and select the plug type you want to use.

Can I also charge my car at IONITY chargers?

Yes, Ionity is included in our network.

Why is the security amount not released?

The reserved amounts will be automatically released after the settlement of the rental. The final release depends on the bank issuing the credit card and may take a few days. Unfortunately, we have no influence over this.

Is there a collective billing?

No, at the moment we do not offer collective billing.

Where am I able to find my invoices?

We will send the invoice to the email address provided at the end of the week after your journey. You can also access it in the SIXT app under "My booking".

Do you offer special corporate tariff?

No, we currently don’t offer a special corporate tariff.

Can I charge any vehicle or can I only use SIXT charge when renting a vehicle from SIXT?

Feel free to charge any vehicle at any time. You’re not limited to using SIXT charge when renting a vehicle.
