YOUR COVERAGE OPTIONS FOR RENTAL CARS IN ICELAND
LOSS DAMAGE WAIVER INCLUDING THEFT PROTECTION (LDW), THIRD PARTY INSURANCE
The third party insurance is included with your rental car in Iceland and gives you coverage for personal injuries, for material damages and for Driver’s Personal Accident. Loss Damage Waiver removes the driver’s responsibility to a part of the vehicle in case of damage or theft and can be added to your rental vehicle. If you want to decrease your deductible amount in case of an event you can choose the optional top cover and super top cover, giving you even less financial liability.
TIRE AND WINDSHIELD COVERAGE (GT), SAND AND ASH PROTECTION
These optional extras are extremely useful when navigating in Iceland but please be aware that sand and ash protection is already included when you choose the super top cover loss damage waiver. Due to Iceland’s specific geology and weather conditions, sand and ash protection can help you avoid costly financial damage to your vehicle from strong weather blowing sand and ash onto your vehicle. LIMITATIONS OF COVERAGE
Though cross border travel is not permitted from Iceland you can take your vehicle on certain ferries. Be advised that damage from sea spray is not covered by insurances. Also be aware that certain areas are prohibited by official order and driving in these areas as well as on ice, rivers, streams, foreshores and off-road will invalidate your insurances.
