This is possible throughout Germany and Netherlands, as long as car is returned to one of our business areas within the country where car sharing started. Simply, start car sharing and drive directly from Berlin's Alexanderplatz to Hamburg's Elbphilharmonie or from Amsterdam to Rotterdam. City to city car sharing makes your own car unnecessary. Please note that, dropping off a SIXT share car at another city operated by SIXT share or at a nationwide SIXT station is possible at an additional fee. Alternatively, you can drop-off your SIXT share in the city it was taken from for free.

Registration is free and you can easily reserve a car sharing vehicle and drive away immediately. In SIXT share's minute-based and 1-day package, 200 km, charging / fueling and parking costs with the SIXT share business area are included.*

Use cases: car sharing between cities

  • Car sharing from Berlin to Hamburg: The distance is around 290 kilometers and can be covered in 3 to 4 hours. When car sharing from city to city, an hourly package is the most convenient option.
  • Car sharing from Hamburg to the Ruhr area: around 360 kilometers, should be doable in 4 to 5 hours. This time, we book a day package as a precaution, which includes 200 kilometers. This way, you can drive back to Hamburg without any time pressure. Day package is a perfect solution for car sharing between cities to enjoy your trip to the fullest.
  • Car sharing from Munich to the Allgäu: It's not too far from Munich to the Allgäu. In less than 2 hours, you are in the middle of nature within the Bavarian mountains, forests, and lakes. Here, an hourly package makes sense, which also offers the possibility of leaving the car parked.
  • Car sharing from Amsterdam to Rotterdam: The distance between Amsterdam and Rotterdam is approximately 80 kilometers. Car sharing between the two cities takes about 1 hour depending on traffic. Hourly package or minute-based price would make sense in this case.
